Risky Business? Not Anymore!

Risky Business? Not Anymore!

Buying a car can be such a fun experience. During the first test drive your blood is pumping and you’re excited to feel what this potential new car has to offer.

However, once upon a time, buying a used car was a risky proposition. There was a good chance you could buy a lemon, or a car that had been used and abused. Today the savvy customer does not face these risks. It is safer, and less risky, than it has ever been before.

Many dealers offer one-owner vehicle that are still on warranty, so that takes some risk out of the equation, and in addition, there are many research tools on the internet to help you learn about the reputation and performance history for the specific vehicle you may be interested in. With a little research, you should know of any recalls or common problems.

In saying that, it is best to keep in mind that car makers have made a point of producing a more reliable and long-lasting vehicle over the years. Most cars on the road these days are expected to last well over one hundred thousand kilometers, sometimes more than double that. This is something to remember when considering a car that is two to five years old. There are many good years that lie ahead for that vehicle, and the increased amount of leasing means there is a solid supply of two to five year old vehicles out there that have already suffered the worst of the depreciation curve.

The second you drive a new car off of the lot, its value depreciates by as much as 20 percent. When you buy a used car, all the depreciation has been absorbed by the original owner.

You may also get a bit more bang for your buck when shopping used. When you drive a new car straight off of the lot, you typically pay for every added feature. When you upgrade to include a sunroof, tinted windows, and a spoiler, you can leave with a total price of thousands of dollars higher than the sticker price. Used cars with these same amenities might cost a little more than those without, but not nearly to the same extent.

Buying a used car is a great way to save some money and still get the car you’ve been searching for. Whether you’re constrained by your pocketbook, or have certain automotive needs that must be met (such as a backseat for the kids, or all wheel drive for winter months), today’s used car options deliver almost everything new cars do – and at a lower overall cost.

For some great examples, visit us at www.mcfinance.ca , give us a call at (877)783-2772, or, better yet, swing by 134 Broadway Street East in Yorkton, and experience first hand that great blood pumping feeling of the first drive in your new car.

We look forward to meeting you.

How to get your first car loan. From no credit to a car loan!

How to get your first car loan. From no credit to a car loan!

A lot of the time banks will not approve an auto loan if there is no credit on the applicant’s bureau. Here are some things you can do to establish a little bit of credit so you can get into a car loan.

Credit Cards, these are a good way to establish some credit and over time banks will consider this enough credit experience to give you a car loan. However, with credit cards you have a few things you need to be careful to avoid. 1) Late payments, especially if you are young, are very hurtful to your credit and make it very difficult to get an auto loan for years to come. 2) Maxing out your credit limit and not paying it down makes banks thing that you can’t afford any more payments than what you already have and that makes it hard for the banks to say yes to lending you the money to get into a vehicle. 3) Going over limit on your credit card makes banks worry that you don’t have your credit and finances completely in control.

Small bank loans (around $1000-$3000) are a great way to establish some early credit. The best way to get into these types of loans is to speak with the bank you deal with for your payroll. Where possible you want to create a relationship with someone at your home branch because they are more likely to give you your first credit. Keep in mind that your interest rate is reflective of your credit experience and the amount you are financing. Low amount financed usually have a bit higher interest rate. This is because of the risk on the banks side of things. They don’t know how you are going to repay your loans because there is no credit history to use as an example. Think of these first credit steps as creating your credit persona, in order for banks to be comfortable with you; you need to give them a good first impression.

Once you have had either of these types of loans for around a year, typically you will be eligible for a vehicle loan. Keep in mind that you are still new to the credit world so you may not be eligible for your dream vehicle just yet, but come see us and we’ll get you on your way to your perfect vehicle!

We Help Good People In Tough Situations

We Help Good People In Tough Situations

To give you a quick introduction to McKenzie’s Sales & Leasing and how we earn your business is pretty simple. Our philosophy is to  apply an exceptional amount of effort, and drive as hard as we can down an incredible amount of financial roads we’ve established to get your car loan approved. If you’re anxious, stressed, uncomfortable, worried and defeated at the thought of getting a car loan because a bank has turned you down, you still have hope! We apply a tremendous amount of effort to make sure you get the car you need, no matter the bad credit situation or uncomfortable case of bad luck!

Take this common situation for example;

A young family with one car and two small children, with both parents working outside the home  run into a rut. A string of bad luck finds them needing to replace their car. As stress levels begin to rise because their credit is lacking they approach their local credit union for a much needed car loan, only to be turned down. It seems like a dead end… most people don’t know about McKenzie Sales & Leasing and our special finance approach. The stress levels rise as they feel like there’s no where to turn!

This situation happens all the time. This young family might turn to Google and search a few things like bad credit car loan or auto loans with bad credit only to find a bunch of garbage websites with no real humans behind them who can’t really care to help a family in need! Things don’t need to be this way!!! McKenzie Sales & Leasing is beaming to help you out. We know how to help you out. We know what measures need to be taken to help you out. We help out more people in Western Canada then any other group of car dealers to get you the car loan you need to survive. We don’t want you to know we’re the “biggest” or “do more then anyone else” or “we’re the cheapest” because while that’s the case we care that you know we simply want to help you, get to know your situation then make the best of it for you and your family. We care that you get the help you need and deserve.

What you probably care about is making sure you can get your family the transportation they need. When you run into a wall we’re here to help you. The best part is, you can come in and hold your head high because we’ll shake your hand and treat you like the VIP guest you are. From Great Experience To Happy Customer

From Great Experience To Happy Customer

McKenzie Sales & Leasing in Saskatoon wants every guest in our showroom to be treated like honoured guests. Making sure you have a good time at our store and that we make the best use of your time is very important to us. We have a great inventory of used cars in Saskatoon along with a huge selection of used SUV’s in Saskatoon and if your looking for a used truck in Saskatoon, look no further. It all comes down to our happy people with great attitudes who all present themselves with a no pressure, laid back approach to helping you get the perfect vehicle for you and your family.

To highlight how some previous customers have been treated at mcKenzie Sales in Saskatoon look no further then the letter from Del McKee!

In October of 2009 I found myself in a position whereby I needed a new vehicle. Having gone through some fincancial challenges since April, I didn”t think obtaining financing was going to be easy or at all possible.

After my first visit to McKenzie’s Sales and Leasing in Saskatoon I knew I was dealing with a dealership that was different in many ways. They understood the position I was in,  they listened to what I wanted in a vehicle, what I could afford to spend and went out of their way to find me the best vehicle and the best value for my dollar. They were professional, kind and eager to find me a vehicle that worked best for me and my budget.

In january 2010 I found myself looking for anothervehicle (due to an accident) and I went back to see mcKenzie Sales & Leasing. Going back to them was an easy decision because of the service they provided to me previously. Again, I was met with professional sales staff and once again they exceeded my expectations in finding a great vehicle.

I never thought I would provide a testimonial such as this, but in this case I have no reservations in saying that McKenzie Sales & Leasing is a fair, reputable and friendly dealership that will provide you with the type of customer service that isnt always associated with a used car dealer.

Jan 2010 Ban on Cell Phone Use in SK

Jan 2010 Ban on Cell Phone Use in SK

With the Holiday’s fast approaching, traffic will be picking up, and it is best to be prepared, not only for yourself, but for the benefit of others on the road.

Concerned about safety on the roads, the Saskatchewan Government has placed a ban on handheld cell phone use, effective January 1st, 2010. Other provinces, including Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Newfoundland, have already brought in similar bans.

The new law also prohibits drivers from texting, emailing or surfing the internet while driving.

The government said it wanted the law passed because distracted driving is a serious road safety issue. “Given the very compelling numbers, the danger that we know that it is, the increased risk of accident, I think it’s something we need to look at carefully and potentially bring legislation forward this fall,” said Premiere Brad Wall.  About one in four accidents in Saskatchewan are caused by distractions, the province says.
While experienced drivers will be allowed to use hands-free devices while driving, new drivers – those in the province’s Graduated Driver’s Licensing program – are banned from using any kind of cellphone on the road.
With this law coming into effect, we suspect some of you may have questions about hands-free devices. So, this month, we are spotlighting one of our personal favourite hands free systems: Microsoft’s “Sync”.

Think of Sync as a computer that manages music and communication devices that drivers carry into a car, but there’s nothing to see, since the system is embedded in the vehicle’s dash. Drivers use voice commands and buttons on the steering wheel to control a device. MP3 players are linked to the Sync with a USB port, while mobile phones are connected wirelessly via Bluetooth.

It integrates things like MP3 players into the system using voice recognition software. That means you can surf through your iPod’s playlist with voice commands. It will also read text messages from your phone aloud, even translating abbreviations, like LOL. Plus, it’s multilingual for English, French and Spanish!
Sync is available in a wide range of Ford and Lincoln vehicles, coming as standard equipment in some, including the 2008 Ford Edge we have parked in our showroom (Yorkton’s largest!).

If you find yourself out and about in beautiful downtown Yorkton, be sure to stop into 134 Broadway Street East, and check out Microsoft Sync first hand.

And don’t forget to ask about “Cash for Christmas”!

With all of this in mind, the Management and staff at McKenzie Sales and Leasing Yorkton, would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season!

Top 10 Reasons To Buy A Used Car From McKenzie’s

Top 10 Reasons To Buy A Used Car From McKenzie’s

Buying a used car from McKenzie’s is a great way to save some money and still get the car you’ve been searching for. Whether you’re constrained by your pocketbook or have certain automotive needs that must be met (such as a backseat for the kids or four-wheel drive for winter weather), today’s used car options deliver almost everything new cars do – and at a lower overall cost.

1. Depreciation
The second you drive a new car off the lot, its value depreciates by as much as 20 percent. Studies show that most cars are only worth 60 to 70 percent of their original value three years after their purchase. When you buy a used car, all the depreciation has already been absorbed by the original owner.

2. No Overpriced Dealer Repairs
When you purchase certain makes and models of new cars, the parts covered under warranty aren’t valid if you use your own mechanic. In these instances, your only choice is to return to the dealership to get your repairs done. This is basically the dealership’s way of getting you into their shops with their overpriced service. When you buy a used car, you can get repairs done on your own terms.

3. Save Money
Buying used cars – whether you are buying from a used car dealership, car classifieds, or online sites – simply costs less money than buying new. New cars run an average of $25,000, while used cars are closer to the $10,000 range.

4. Save the Planet
While buying a hybrid car might seem like a great way to go green, it actually takes more energy to build a new hybrid than it does to buy a fuel-efficient used car. Every time a hybrid comes off the assembly line, it takes about 46,000 miles of driving before the car “breaks even” in the amount of energy it saves through fuel efficiency. Buying a used car in the first place – as long as it’s not a gas guzzler – will actually reduce your carbon footprint.

5. Lower Car Insurance Rates
Car insurance rates are higher for new cars than they are for used cars. The reasons are simple: new cars are more likely to be financed (and therefore need full coverage), and annual insurance rates can run as high as 20 percent of a car’s sticker price. Buying a newer, more expensive model can end up costing you money for years.

6. Higher Used Car Standards
Thanks to new laws and auto history check websites, it has become easier than ever to determine if a used car has undergone any major damage. Some used car dealerships guarantees that they have been looked over and approved by a qualified mechanic.

7. Avoiding Car Dealerships
When buying a used car, you have a number of places to look. You can peruse car classifieds, visit eBay, KiJiJi or Craigslist, or opt for a used car dealership. New cars typically only come from one place – the dealer – so you have limited options when it comes to salesmen and haggling over prices.

8. Finding Good Deals
Owners of new cars can be a pretty finicky set. Many people turn over their cars after one or two years simply as a matter of course, while others may decide that the monthly payments are too high to continue. If you take the time to look for quality used cars, you might find some incredibly good deals from your smaller independent dealerships.

9. More Bang for Your Buck
When you drive a new car straight off the lot, you typically pay for every added feature. When you upgrade to include a sunroof, tinted windows, and a spoiler, you can leave with a total price thousands of dollars higher than the sticker price. Used cars with these same amenities might cost a little more than those without, but not nearly to the same extent.

10. Used Cars can be just as Reliable if carefully inspected
Although buying a new car may seem like a more responsible choice, no car purchase is guaranteed to be hassle-free. Factory recalls, faulty parts, and required maintenance repairs can occur just as easily in a new car as they can in a used car. As long as you have your used car purchase checked out and you take good care of it, the overall reliability of your car can be just as good as a new car.  Further, cars have also become more reliable with advances in technology.

Buying a car – regardless of whether you choose new or used – is a major endeavor that can put a strain on your finances for years. Fortunately, most of the benefits of buying a used car have to do with money. As long as you take your time, evaluate your prospective purchases; you and your used car can spend many happy years together.
